Description: Well, this was Oceanfest 2001 at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Our typical plan is to get up real early, be at the beach by 9:00 (it's a 2 1/2 hour drive) and in the water by 9:30 am! The Space Coast Descenders Dive Club - the local Explorer Scout Group, usually camps down there for the weekend and meets us at the beach. We had all kinds of divers - The Irishman and the Flooze, Laura and friend, Janel as usual had stayed down overnight for several nights, Kent and his son were with the Scout Group. We had called Kent on his cell phone at the Scout Camp in Lauderdale on our way out of Melbourne, I believe we had left Melbourne around 6:00 am (ya got to be a morning person and early bird to keep up with the Irishman)!!

We had Pegasus and the Irishman diving and the Flooze snorkeling above us. Out we went, about 100 yards off shore, then turned south. It was in interesting dive. There were not as much color and fish as on the Breakers in West Palm. But, it was the first Beach Dive for the Flooze and Pegasus.

After the dive, we toured all of the dive booths at OceanFest. When we got hot, it was time for a seminar in Air Conditioned confort. Paul Himan (author of Reef Fish et al) gave one lecture and I had him autograph all of my copies of his fish and reef ID books.
